The car that best reflects my personality is a 1959 Cadillac convertible. It has huge fins and seats about 20. It’s a classic and a bit bold.

The trail head of my art path stared in 1981 while studying art at the University of North Dakota and Minnesota State University. I became a professional fine art photographer, gravitating to black and white nature photography. In 2003 my photography niche shifted to portraits. For the next many years I photographed thousands of conceptional portraits as a professional photographer. In 2016 I fell in love with painting. My photography background has provided a solid foundation for painting. It helped me to understand composition and color. I’m weird, so, coming up with ideas and tweaks is so fun for me.

I get excited about the ideas for my paintings because they are simply fun or meaningful. I have a steady flow of ideas that are jotted down in sketch books and random napkins. I tend to add on to first thoughts and enjoy the process of adding on. The plethora of ideas give me the idea that I have enough time to paint all of the concepts.

I want to create paintings that take people somewhere. A mini-mind-vacation of sorts. I want my work to make you feel peaceful, happy, at home… something. I want you to love that feeling enough to put it on your wall and appreciate it every day. When it stops moving you it’s time to buy another of my paintings and repeat the process.
